Simple Walks, Roller-Skates & the Never-Quit Spirit
Screen Free Connections & Musings
Today was a good day. While I was out walking I got to see two girls roller-skating and having a good time outside. It was fun to see. I remember roller-skating being something that brought me joy as a kid. I didn't do it often but when I did it was fun. What I love most about today was seeing several people smiling and genuinely having a good time.
It reminds me that we don't have to make elaborate plans, travel far away or even spend much in order to connect with others and have screen free fun. Sometimes all it takes is going for a walk with the right people. It is such a gift when the right people show up across my path as well. I don't plan who else crosses my path but I do get the joy of the experience.
As we were coming back from our walk I was thinking back on a camp I went to when I was 14 years old. I am still grateful that I attended that camp. I was thinking about some of the lessons I learned while I was there and how that experience has served me and helped me grow. There was an ethos that they had each of us memorize. It ended with "I am an [group name], I will never quit!" As I am walking into new things in my life and learning what it will take for me to grow in these new experiences I choose to remember who I am and that I will never quit.
